FikUP · Cost and profitability

Know the cost of every portion.

Turn purchase prices into recipe cost, Food Cost and margin. Explore prices and quantities before making a decision.

Recipe cost

See which ingredients drive cost.

Go beyond a single total. The simulator shows each ingredient's contribution and puts the largest costs first.

Example recipe15.00 EUR / portion
  • Beef8.10 EUR · 54%
  • Bun2.00 EUR · 13%
  • Other ingredients4.90 EUR · 33%

Illustrative example; the simulator uses your location's recipe and the purchase prices you enter.

Clearer decisions

Test before changing your menu.

Start with the existing recipe and explore assumptions without changing the product or its selling price.

01

Account for yield

For preparation loss, enter usable yield and choose whether the recipe quantity is purchased or usable.

02

Compare with your target

Set a temporary Food Cost target and see guidance prices both excluding VAT and for the customer.

At 15 EUR cost and a 25% target: 60.00 EUR excluding VAT or 66.60 EUR with 11% VAT.

03

Compare scenarios

Temporarily change quantities, customer price or VAT and see the effect on cost and margin.

How it works

From recipe to decision in three steps.

  1. 01

    Choose a menu variant

FikUP reads your location's existing recipe, selling price and VAT rate.

  2. 02

    Enter purchase costs

Add pack price and quantity; include yield where relevant.

  3. 03

    Review the result

See cost per portion, Food Cost %, margin, cost drivers and the proposed scenario. Export to Excel or PDF.

Purchase costs, yields, targets and scenarios are temporary. The shown margin is after ingredients; it excludes labour, rent and other expenses.

Frequently asked questions

Does the simulator save purchase prices?

No. They are entered for the current simulation and are not saved to the database.

Will the guidance price change my menu?

No. It is calculated from recipe cost and your Food Cost target; the product's selling price stays the same.

What if an ingredient has no cost?

The recipe is marked incomplete, and the known subtotal is not presented as a final cost.
